It is Azal's entry into Bollywood world infront of likes of Amitabh Bachan, Salman Khan, Katrina Kaif, Javed Jafferi, Vipul Shah, Anees Bazmee, Pritam, Abbas Mustan and many many more..

Azal launched their music album Road to Infinity in Mumbai this week, amid much fanfare. Though the band has yet to make it as big as other Pakistani artistes looking for a market in India, their album was well received, especially for its hit song, 'Aisi Taisi'. British pop sensation Hard Core released the CD's of the Pakistani band.

While sound of the band is edgy and rocky, melodies remain its mainstay. Sameer, a member of the band said: "Our music is all about song and sound of the soil. The melodies used in the song are from India and Pakistan. When you hear the background music, it's all Western; it's all very progressive and is basically collaboration."

Shahbaz, another member of the band said: "It is a mixed album and has all kinds of songs. There is a rock flavour in it and it is meant for everyone right from a fifteen year's old to a forty year old man."

As Indian films foray into Pakistan, it is reassuring to see Pakistani musicians step into India with the confidence that Pakistan cinema is lacking. And the best thing is, they are making a bigger mark!

The music of much-awaited Akshay Kumar starrer ‘Singh is Kinng’ released Thursday at a hotel in Mumbai amid Bollywood bigwigs. It was launched by none other than superstar Salman Khan.

The live performance by Pak band Azal left the crowd craving for more.

Music and magic came together as the newest import from Pakistan, as the band Azal celebrated their maiden musical venture in aamchi Mumbai the other evening.

Boy bands and more:

The boy band, comprising Ali Rajab, Ehtesham (aka ET) and Sameer, missed one of their members Shabi as he was stuck in a traffic jam! Nevertheless, the trio that was present created wonders with their voice and songs, luring the gathered guests into musical wonderland.

After a brief but great performance, it was none other than our desi firang rapster Hard Kaur who joined in their special moment in the limelight. She was completely in love with the band’s music as it was “soulful” and a “perfect blend of classical and western.” And cross-border exchanges took place here as well, for when the band invited her for a visit to Pakistan, she accepted, saying, “Let’s make some music together, then I can come along with you guys to Pakistan!”

This news must have given Abhijeet another bout of diarrhoea.

Although, makes me think maybe the Indian singers are crying for the right reasons. Our musicians have started moving very fast. Azal just launched their debut album earlier this year in Pakistan and they are already associated with one of the most anticipated and big budget bollywood movies of the year. Abhijeet and company becharay kahan jayeingay ab?

I was talking to Ali, last night, he's the manager for Azal and he told me that it was a very good experience in India. They were treated very well,and Salman Khan and others hung out with them. They're pretty happy with the release. Although, I don't know what Azal has performed over there . I'll ask him about a video clip or something.

See? As I said.. they are moving too fast. Allah khair karay.

Now that's what we call a Bollywood debut! Singh is Kinng, without a doubt, is one of the biggest films of this year.

With Akshay Kumar and Katrina Kaif in lead roles, it is already creating quite the buzz.

And the good news is that Azal have made it to the soundtrack of the film, and that too, within one night!

While in India to release and promote their debut record, Road to Infinity, Azal got the offer and rolled with it.

In a chat with Instep Today, Ehtesham Khan (ET) singer-songwriter of Azal revealed, "It was bizarre. Our record label told us that this was an opportunity. So we met up with Pritam, the music director of Singh is Kinng and asked for a studio and the project files. We landed in the studio at 11 at night and by morning we were done with the song. It was a crazy schedule but it worked out for us. Our song is part of the soundtrack."

The song Azal has done is the title track, 'Singh is Kinng'. While the original is sung by Mika, Azal have done a rocked up version of the tune.

True to their signature, it has some a crunching riffs with Rajab Ali Khan and Ehtesham, both sharing vocal responsibilities. And by the way, they rock!

And then there is the "Tu Tu Tu Ru Ru" bit reminiscent of 'Aisi Taisi' Azal have added to give it their flavour.

After the song was recorded, Azal then dashed off to the music launch, the same day and performed to the house.

And at the launch, the guests included Salman Khan, Katrina Kaif, Amitabh Bachchan, Shefali Shah as well as many others.

And according to ET, it was Katrina and Salman, who really loved the track.

"Our sound was blistering. And Salman Khan and Katrina, both of them cheered us on throughout. After we finished, they even yelled out, 'once more'. Even the director Vipul Shah as well as Pritam are very happy with the tune," said ET, who was gung-ho about the project, knowing fully well that this is one of the big films of the year.

Playing the game smartly, Azal are set to shoot the video.

"It won't be a video where we perform while shots from the film interspersed. We are flying out to India and we'll shoot the video with Katrina Kaif. Akshay Kumar won't be able to star in the video since he's in South Africa and won't be returning till August. But his shots will be added.

Road to Infinity launched in India

Even though, Azal have just released their debut album in India, the response has been rather decent. "There are some other offers on the table. But we don't want to go for just any film. But we're in talks. So let's see what comes out."

Talking about the response to Road to Infinity, ET stated, "We performed at a Café in Mumbai where our album was launched. And people responded very well to it."

Present at the launch of Azal's album was Kaur, the female from Sona Family, behind hit tracks like 'Move Your Body' off Johnny Gaddar and 'Ek Glassy'.

After the performance, ET revealed Kaur came onto the stage and called Azal's brand of music "soulful" and a "perfect blend of classical and western." Azal have invited her for a visit to Pakistan, and she has accepted and wants to make music with the band. As collaborations, if this happens, it'll definitely be interesting to say the least. This was Azal's first stint in India and so far, it has been a great ride.

"We ate so much. The weather was great. It rained a lot. The media there is massive. We gave interviews, left, right and center."

There are talks of concerts but those are restricted to foreign shows so far.

"We've got shows coming up in New York, Washington and Dallas. Maybe in Canada also. Our UK tour is postponed for now. As for India, our record label is taking care of that. The only problem is Pakistan. We are desperate to perform here but there are no concerts happening.

But that is the case with most of our musicians. But coming back to Azal, do watch out for this number.

It is no 'Aisi Taisi' but the song is fabulous. After hearing this, the original will definitely sound stale!
