Post Noori's Official Blog Entry - Ahoy from Oslo! [Aug 24]

Hello Everyone…

We welcome you the noori blog. Well the truth is that the entire website is now going be run like a blog. But this is where we’d like to share our thoughts and have our say.

For the longest time we have felt absolutely handicapped and helpless being dependant on one web designer or another. This time around we said “what the hell lets go DIY …. how hard could it be?” So we set out to learn wordpress and after a lot of struggling here we putting our first blog entry in our brand new nooriworld.net

We are hoping that through CMS’s (content management systems) nooriworld.net just might be able to become what we had always dreamt off…. a dynamic homeground to all those who believe in the noori philosophy and a place to share all our excitement and endeavours.

Both of us intend to start our own personal blogs soon but if you want to know what the band feels about something…which rumour is true…what are our future plans, then the noori blog is the place to be.

Yes, we are very much in the middle of grand festivity! Oslo is full of life! Summer is the perfect time to be here!!

On the night of the 22nd, noori performed to a jam packed audience at Rådhusplassen which is the City Hall Square. The Mela, the event for which noori performed, is one of the biggest events held in Oslo. Mr. Khalid Salimi, the director of this event has successfully created the festival for 7 years! And with each year passing, the event has gained greater recognition and popularity. Last year’s visitor count was 300,000 people! Can it get any grander?

noori’s performance lasted around 45 minutes. Our cousin, Zameer, was flown in specially from toronto for the gig. He opened the performance with one of his finest ballads, ‘With You‘. The band followed on to enthral the audience with Tum Hans Diye, Suno Ke Mein Hun Jawan, Kuttay..Dil Ki Qasam and Manwa Re!

Well concerts happen for us all the time but this trip was our first to the Scandinavia and we think that till now we had missed out on a very beautiful part of this earth.

One more thing we’d like add is that Mr. Khalid Salimi’s effort is something that all Pakistani expatriates should be really proud of. Through the Mela he has brought the Pakistanis living in Norway much closer to the European community. He has used art and culture to establish, very effectively, the respectability that Pakistanis so fully deserve, especially during such hard political times that Pakistan itself is going through. Way to go Salimi Sahib!!!

Right now we are having the most beautiful time of our life in an Island in Norway called Børøya. Keep a look out for an entry about the entire trip as soon as we get back!

Until then…

noori

^ @ tigerstyle;

Haha gr8 minds thinks alike! I went home after Noori as well, cause I don't like the joker, Stereo Nation. You should have screamed out Nishaan, maybe they would've sing it then...I started to sing Manwa re with some of my friends, so noori sang it in the end. Yey! My wish got fulfilled! But i guess they had planned to sing that song..lolz...whatever..I just love this song!!! I was standing in the front row, so didn't know how to react when they sang the "kuttay" song..haha..I was like;
"oh nehiii...=O kuch to khiyaal karroo" =P

However yea, most of the ppl were there for oneunity nd Taz. They don't know what Pakistani music is all about..tsk tsk..
Most of the ppl didn't know about Noori either, and that was kind of irritating. Because one should support their country's music as well..

I went to the mela for like 2 hours on Sunday and went back home very early, bcuz i knew that nothing special was going to happen that day. I didn't want to waste my time on Jal, and i'm not regretting now..! =D I heard them sing through a phone call nd believe me; they were shivering... Besurre dhol! =P
heard that they also tried to copy atif as well..as they always use to do...!! koi haal nehi...

Ahhh yess! Call should come that would have been sooo much fun! Lets invite them to mela next year then! haha..=P

Jal was struggling at the Mela? Come on people, try not to be so biased in your opinions, and try to seperate a bands music/performance from their personalities and personal affairs. According to me, alot of other hardcore paki music fans and EVEN Bollywood music fans, Jal saved Mela this year. Ali Zafar's performance sucked. Noori had a good performance, but the soundsystem was a disaster, you could nearly hear what they sang. But Jal's performance rocked, they didn't try to copy anyone at all, even the Bollyshit fans at Mela that day sang along when Jal performed Woh Lamhay,Sajni and Aadat.

I hope to see some "official" recording of Mela performances, so people who weren't there can decide for themselves who performed well and who didn't. Noori rocks, no doubt, but when it comes to performance at Mela; Jal was a mile ahead.

PS: A video interview of Jal and Noori coming soon, where they talk about Musharrafs resigning, Khuda Ke Liye movie, and I asked Noori about the meaning behind the song "bhen***" +++ :P
