I hate it when the commentator (specially desis) act like a mentally retarded daft and get stunned and do not utter a word till the ball crosses the boundary line. Usually it happens when Indian commentators are trying to do their job while Pakistan is batting, and vice versa.

like most of the time they are just stating the obvious....and that too as though it is some very informative advise...

"they need to get a few more wickets here" duh!!!!

"the run rate is increasing and they need to hit boundries to get it down" no kidding...u sure!!!

^ Duh, this is what called commentary! Just state the obvious and relevant as you go along...I mean as an alternative what else you expect them to talk about instead of 'commenting' on the game?

Anyway, I don't really have list of annoying phrases, maybe I can't think of any right now. However, for me the 'fake', pretnetious note behind those cliche-fied comments is far more annoying than the actual words. You can sometimes actually tell when the commentators really mean what he's saying or when he's just saying becasue he has to say it. One can always feel the excitement of David Lloyd even through those same old recurring phrases.

well that is what I said...that it is annoying at times when they say so in a manner as though they are giving some really unknown advise....in terms of the tone they adopt.

if not that..then technically nothing can be annoying in a commentary...
