KARACHI: The Pakistan Cricket Board has given a green signal to all-rounder Sohail Tanvir to play for his Indian Premier League franchise
Rajasthan Royals in a charity match against Middlesex at Lord's on July 6.

The sports management company which represents Tanvir said in a statement that Tanvir would represent the Rajasthan Royals in the match being played for the British Asian Trust.

Tanvir was the best bowler of the IPL in the first season and played a key role in his team's title win.

However, he could not play the second edition after the Pakistan foreign ministry advised the PCB not to send its players to India due to security concerns arising out of the tense relations between the two countries after the Mumbai terror attacks last November.

The IPL was later moved to South Africa but by that time the IPL franchises had either terminated or suspended the contracts of the Pakistani players due to their unavailability for the second season.

Portfolio world, the sports management company also quoted Shilpa Shetty the co-owner of the Rajasthan Royals as saying that she was excited to have Tanvir back in the team.

"He was truly missed in the IPL second season," Shetty was quoted in the statement.

Tanvir, the left arm pacer, struggled in the recent T20 World Cup in England and was dropped from the playing eleven.

they allowed him but i doubt it he will be in the playing XI....his form is terrible

I hope his form returns, he is a great bowler with much potential. I don't understand what is causing his loss in form, but he needs to hit the nets and get it back.

^ Low confidence. As some people think he's over and done with, I do not believe that. From what I saw of him he looked dejected, neglected and depressed. Needs to work on his once so-high confidence, that really holds the key for him..

I don't think Tanvir would go. He's working on his form and attending the Academy to regain fitness before the ODI series.

Champion Trophy is in September so i think players like sohail tanveer ,Mohammad Asif , Nasir Jamshad And Most Important Shoaib Akhtar ...they all will be in the squad .

If I remember correctly, then there is always a 30-member Champions Trophy squad announced first, isn't it? It was there the last time as well, when the guys went to train in Kakul.. I can easily see him being a part of that but he needs to put the past couple of months behind him and look forward.. I see talent when ST bowls - just like Rao is a good bowler, but he's not as talented its his hard work that takes him forward....

this will make Excellent 30 member Squad which will make hard job for selectors to select 15 players

It probably will But it is such a blessing to see world-class talent in our squad and team

Perhaps baring the argument of Akhtar, we share pretty much the same views

When people asked for Shahid Bhai to be sacked, what did the captain/coach do? Younis and Intikhab gave him a lot of confidence and made him feel easy. They should do the same thing with him. This guys a great bowler, but hes way out of form. Good on Pcb, by letting him play. Maybe Shane Warne will help him out.

LAHORE: Rajasthan Royals has called for Sohail Tanvir, the most successful bowler in the first edition of the Indian Premier League, to participate in an exhibition match next week.

Talking with Geo News, Sohail Tanvir said that he is very pleased to play again for Rajasthan Royals and hopes to be successful in displaying good performance.

The left-arm pacer said that he does not know about his package.

Sohail Tanvir will leave on Sunday for England where Rajasthan Royals will play an exhibition match against Middlesex on July 6.

Revenue generated from the match will be given to the British Asian Trust.
