Pieterson is a better batsman, much better batsman but when it comes to overall value to the team I think their both the same. Dhonis wicketkeeping has gotten much better and he has captained india to major victories in every form of the game. 20/20 world cup, ODI series win in australia and getting back the border gavaskar trophy. The importance he has put on fielding and running between the wickets has been crucial to indias success.

I won't comment on captaincy, but batting, KP definitely has the upper hand!!

Its 1 - 1.....With Batting Pieterson is ahead of Dhoni for sure in Tests.....in ODI's he has only edge but not as bad as Test....Dhoni hasn't proved at that level yet.....With captaincy so far Dhoni has lof of credentials...If pieterson wins the ashes then the captaincy race will be very close.

Dhoni is the better captain but KP is surely the better player. hard to pick which one is better overall, but I would go with KP if I was a selector!
