DR.RAZA(Tanha)-Exclusive Video Review By Hira Fatima:
Finally, I welcome every one to an emotional ride. The song I loved and have cherished for so long has finally been made into a worth while video. Yes I am talking about “tanha”. I remember hearing the song for the first time and falling in love with the wonderful musical notes that engulfed me. Intoxicating, mesmerizing, simply amazing. Dr.Raza stepped into the music scene four years ago, with nothing but dreams in his eyes and music in his soul. His journey has so far been full of self-realizations, and struggles, but he did not give up. And finally, he has got his break through! Tanha is a Soulful song. Its whispers, it mesmerizes, tenderly stroking the souls that are wounded by the untimed loneliness that even engulfs one in the middle of a crowd! It takes you places and introduces one to their own loneliness, which causes chaos and yet passes by unseen and unrealized!
Moving on to the video. Mind you! This is the second video of the song and I am very glad to announce that the video has been airing on Indus Music. Finally an artist got his well-earned place. Lets get down to chop chop, shall we?
Tanha for starters is a very very abstract video. Directed by Eye. It seems more of an abstract experimental ground, if I am not wrong. Yet, if one looks closely, every thing has a link to the other except the fruits. Unless you consider them as the fruits of loneliness. That is totally upon the viewer’s perception. The video starts off with a graphic depiction of an empty city full of sky scrappers. I think the city is supposed to be Tokyo (if one looks at all the Japanese). Well even if it is or it is not, thoroughly depends on what the buildings are representing! Of course they are presenting loneliness, emptiness. Is it not strange, a place might seem empty, but it is filled with emptiness? It might be just a game of words or Cliché of human life. I think no one ever got that far to discover and so I will also not go that far.
The plot of the video is very simple. There is a girl who is alone. A guy who is alone. They both long for each other but are unable to reach other, which is very sad. The singer is also alone, but the counter of the singer is invisible through out the video. May be our Handsome Dr.Raza:cool: is too shy to show us the girl of his dreams. Though I have been told, He is still single!*winks*ehm ehm…before I go any further on that comment and get sued for my boldness, we should come back to the video. It is simple, yet complicated. The graphics were a bold choice. But all the other things show the memories spread around. Girl holding the key to the guy’s heart, guy holding the key to girl’s heart. Dr. Raza holding the key to…..oh never mind, I am not here to disclose secrets! “loneliness prevails”.
The director has very boldly chosen the two colors that are least used in the current photography. Yellows and grays overshadow the whole video and yes both colors do define loneliness in a very profound manner. The graphics are not brilliant but justifying and rather experimental. The depiction of loneliness is very clear. The director did not fail to lose the loneliness anywhere. Though I think there is also some Unnecessary stuff, like the fruits, the Japanese or Chinese, what ever it is, the paint on the guy’s face. Over all it is not a bad attempt. I particularly liked the violin sequences. Especially where The singer is playing the violin, *giggles*. I know what you are thinking. Anyways, I here by open this video for open discussion. All are welcome to interpret it the way they want to.
A good attempt, though I expect some thing much much better next time! The Video gets a Modest 7.5 out of 10. Not a bad rating for starters eh? Open up your hearts and mind.
