PakMusic exclusively releases debut song and video, 'Teri Ankhon' of an upcoming band, Nishaan from Lahore.
The Band:
“Nishaan” is a brother sister/duo comprising of two artists, namely Tania and Omar, and both have been involved in melody making since long. While Omar executes the technical aspects (arrangement, mastering and mixing), Tania mesmerizes the audience with her tranquilizing voice. The tedious art of lyric writing is the responsibility of Omar’s oldest friend Sheraz, who pens the lyrics and then the melody is created by Omar, or vice versa; and as both are old Aitchisonians, so there is an uncanny understanding amongst the two. Besides these three, OP of ‘Naqsh’ and Hamza Jaffery of ‘Co-Ven’ have also played lead and rhythm as Guest Guitarists for “Nishaan”.
Together as Nishaan, they have begun their musical journey with their first album “Silsila”, which has a soft romantic feel to it mostly, but also dares to narrowly touch the borders of darkness. It is based and targeted for mass audience, not intentionally though, but some numbers are bound to be more appreciated by the serious listeners.
Tania Hussain:
Tania is the Lead Vocalist of Nishaan, who is a professionally trained and has learned the art of singing from the illustrious Pataila Gharana; mainly from Ustad Fateh Ali Sahab and Rustum Fateh Ali. She has received gold medals in the All Pakistan Music Conference for Best Artist. She was also the Lead Vocalist of ‘Naqsh’ and has worked with various professional artists, besides doing playback-singing for many mainstream drama serials. In adding to above, she is actively involved in her private clinic (deals in rehabilitation of Mentally Challenged Individuals) and an NGO which trains and then provides jobs to Mentally Challenged Individuals.
Omar Hussain – a.k.a OH:
Omar is the Main Vocalist and Rhythm Guitarist of the band. He has composed all the numbers and has played the Lead and Rhythm Guitars on all the albums, besides having penned the lyrics of two songs of the first album. He is responsible for theBand’s sound, arrangements, sequencing, recording, mastering and mixing. Omar is a foreign-qualified Textile Engineer who spent a decade in the Mainstream Weaving Production line, but finally left it to pursue his dream of being an accomplished Musician. He is involved full time in Music and is usually found working in own recording studio (Ravenous Studios), composing almost endlessly.
Sheraz Ilahi – a.k.a Chinx:
Sheraz has been a professional Banker since the past twelve years and is one of the oldest and closest friends of Omar and Tania. He has written almost all the songs of Nishaan’s first album “Silsila”, the entire second album “Tum Ko Chah Kay”, which has now been recorded and is presently working on some songs for the third album. His usual routine is that he drops by at the studio after work for almost two to three hours daily, to work on the lyrics and helps Omar in composing the songs. As Lyric writing works simultaneously with Song writing, therefore both work closely.
