Shiv Sena 'bans' Pakistani players, artistes in Mumbai


Mumbai, Dec 2 (IANS) The Shiv Sena will henceforth not permit any Pakistani player or cultural artiste to come and perform in Mumbai or Maharashtra, a senior party leader said here Tuesday.
Party MP Sanjay Raut told IANS that it had always been the Sena's policy to discourage any kind of interaction between Pakistanis and Indians.


"However, after this dastardly terror attacks, we will ensure that not a single Pakistani player or cultural artiste will ever set foot anywhere in the state," Raut said.


Castigating the Sena's stand, Jatin Desai, a prominent activist said: "This was on the expected lines from the Shiv Sena."


"In both India and Pakistan, the fundamentalist elements are strongly opposed to improved relations between the two neighbours. They are against secularism and they are no different from these terrorists," said Desai, the spokesperson of the Pakistan-India Peoples' Forum for Peace and Democracy (PIPFPD).


He said contrary to general perception, there was a huge outrage in Pakistan against the last week's Mumbai terror attacks that left at least 183 people, including 22 foreigners, dead.


People took part in massive anti-terrorist rallies taken out in Karachi and Lahore, Desai said.


He said even in the past, the Sena had objected to Pakistani cricket team's playing in India, it had opposed a concert by ghazal maestro Ghulam Ali and other cultural artistes from that country.

I like Shiv sena and my respect for them is up now...... BJP is trying to be too much democratic... Shiv sena is clear in their head and I love SHiv sena for that... BJP shopuld not allow Pakistani's in India i think... They have lost the right to step inside india now after stabbing India in the back..

Lovish is the only person I've seen who likes Shiv Sena lol...every Indian I've come across are disgusted by them. They did nothing when Mumbai was getting destroyed.

afridi shiv senna gives them more than this for terrorism. 1000 would be a few peanuts for them.

on the topic. I think it's better for pakistani player to avoid anything to do with India rather than endangering their lives at the hands of shiv's terrorism.

Mumbai is India’s largest city and home to some 14 million people. It is also the main financial and business centre of the country – and has been at the sharp end of the contradictions caused by India’s turn to globalised capitalism.

The attacks on the city have brought the world’s attention to its downtown area, packed with hotels and restaurants for tourists and India’s elite.

But Mumbai is also a city of the poor. Some 60 percent of the population live in slums. A third of the city’s residents have no access to safe drinking water.

It is also a multicultural city. Mumbai is the capital of the state of Maharashtra whose official language is Marathi. But many people – including thousands who have come to the city from neighbouring states to seek work – speak Hindi, Gujarati or other Indian languages.

Politicians have exploited these differences to maintain their grip on the city. Since the mid-1990s Mumbai has been dominated by a thuggish far right organisation called Shiv Sena.

Shiv Sena rose to power by whipping up hatred against migrants and mounting murderous attacks on trade unions and communists. In 1995 it took control of Maharashtra in electoral alliance with the right wing BJP party.

Both Shiv Sena and the BJP are supporters of the “Hindutva” – a far right ideology that claims Hindus are superior to other groups in India, especially Muslims. In December 1992 it orchestrated anti-Muslim riots that led to hundreds of deaths.

This in turn led to Islamist groups bombing the city in 1993 and in 2006. Both incidents killed hundreds of ordinary people – and triggered a backlash from state authorities out to scapegoat India’s Muslim population.

yeah just imagine ! some poeple are willing to wipe out population in their own country to earn a quick buck. I guess shiv senna employees have found a niche in terrorism business. Shocking .

Similarly acting upon Shiv sina advice we should ban all indians from Pakmusic forum and doesnt allow them to spread their extremist view over here.How it sounds now.
